41. Enjoy!

41.
Enjoy!

To make assurance doubly sure I reassure you now.
The past is past, what's gone is gone, it doesn't matter, anyhow.
The glorious present is right here in the here and now.
It's where you live, it's where you are, the sacred, sacred cow.
That was that and this is this and then will be and always was.
Kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss, the reason is because!

40. Free

40.
Free

When you are a poet you say exactly what you want to say and how you want to say it.
Freedom is absolute.
So it is, was and always should be.
Free!
Everyone is a poet
although they may not know it.

39. To My Critic

39.
To My Critic

I condescend, as though from a great height, or so you say when you talk a load of shite.
What is this condescension thing?
I condescend to respond, is that enough?
I hate your stuff!
I care, I feel, I'm real.
Come to heel.
I love true. Don't you?
I can't say it all in one poem, no one can.
I'm just a man.
Does a poem evoke a true response?
Or scorn, incomprehension?
Time will tell.
Dramatic tension!

38. The Confrontation

38.
The Confrontation

From the bottom to the top and from top to the bottom
There lies a current state of dysfunction leading to dissatisfaction
Also known as the domino affect or a chain reaction.
This damn world has an affect on me.
We make up to brake up every other day due to the things I see.
I can only pray for a better day because I can no longer exist with you if things continue this way,
My TV reminds me of the full scale catastrophes,
How Casey Anthony walked away Scott free will be another one of life’s unsolved mysteries.
Is there anything left between us that you consider precious,
I can’t take another minute of being with you but yet your love is just that infectious.
And just when I start to think about all the good time we’ve had I am reminded of 911; Hurricane Katrina; you rocked Japan; you had my neighbors suit up and die over a war that was built on a lie.
You never considered letting their families say a proper good-bye.
You allow them to pollute our mother with toxins that lead to famine,
Drinking water with high levels of radiation causing young woman all over the world to be barren.
There is nothing left that is precious with in our youth,
Disrespecting elders all because they tried to help their hopeless asses and speak a little truth.
Men now have this sense of entitlement.
They want to mooch off women…lay on their backs all day…and be courted
The woman has had to be strong on her own for so long that this behavior has become acceptable not even peeping that there is some real bullshit going on.
The contamination must truly be on the water.
Fathers’ thinking it’s acceptable to date friends of his daughter.
Mothers are blaming their failed relationships on their children,
When it was really their stubborn ears and loose legs that got them into the situation that they are currently in.
World what is this foolish ass mess you got me in.
Can you show me an honest love?
Better yet can you show me unconditional love?
Why do you greet me with such disrespect?
Anguish, famine, disaster, and neglect.
And as I pick up the first stone to pay you back for your disrespect,
You remind me that everything I see is a reflection of our very own neglect…
We have raped our mother…
And now Mother Nature has finally gotten fed up and ran to get her brothers.

37. Who is She?

37.
Who is She?

She has no backbone
Afraid to stand on her own
Letting the world jump in her luggage bag for free
Conforming to a world that does not even want her to be.
I ask you who is she?
I ask you again who is she?
She’s an eleven year old mother.
She’s a prostitute.
She’s a lawyer.
She’s a doctor.
She could be you she could be me.
She’s one left turn from a dark alley,
She’s one consultation away from reconstructing her body.
She’s one pill away from suicide
She’s one disappointment away from being ready to die.
Who is she?
I ask you again who is she?
She could be you she could be me.
She never looked in the mirror and found beauty,
Sitting on her ass everyday pondering on what she wish she could be,
Meanwhile she’s one stiff away from HIV.
She’s a brown skinned urban dame,
She’s a blonde headed suburban girl with ponytails and bangs,
She’s a mulatto mami in the heart of north philly,
She’s a bohemian beauty across the seas.
Different lifestyles and different time zones but the problem still remains the same.
No self-love and no faith in the man above.
I pray for the day where she can find her beauty in her imperfections.
Until then I can only tell her tale and pray that you will listen.
Extract every ounce of beauty from your imperfections...Embrace It...Breathe It...Be It
Who is she?
I ask you again who is she?
She could be you she could be me
Don’t be so quick to pass judgment…She could be your Baby.

36. My Bag

36.
My Bag

In my bag…there’s this and there’s that.
Some good shit and some trash but regardless it’s my bag.
I don’t come over in your yard digging in your bag trying to tell you what’s good and what’s trash…You know why because it’s your bag.
I’m the one that has to fill it up with the things I gather thru my travels and I don’t never ask you to carry it.
But there you are always snooping thru my shit.
I know I saw you the other night sneaking in my yard trying to see what you can find.
You probably don’t even understand what you’re looking at because it’s not for your eyes...Just mine.
You need to mind your own and stop always sneaking around in bags… always judging… trying to be sneaky… always on the creep,
Because while you were so busy worried about me you forgot to tie your bags up last night and I heard them alley cats you call friends done spread all your shit out in the street!

35. Tragedy In Bangladesh

35.
Tragedy In Bangladesh

A country rises from the dust,
from hunger, thirst and needs must.
It begins to spread its wings to abolish all those things.
It brings in jobs and hope and joy,
for children food, a school, a toy.
Then a factory tumbles down, people die in fire, they drown.
Why is this, why must this be? Let me see now, let me see.
Every baby learns to walk
and smile and crawl and sing and talk.
At first, it falls flat on its face. Oh, keep going, human race!
Learning, learning all the time,
he sees a tree, she starts to climb.
Who never made a mistake? No one ever, that’s for sure.
The rich should not despise the poor,
we all start somewhere, simple, pure.
Those in power, of each rank,
should not care just for cash in bank.
Parent, landlord, boss or wife,
all have their own view of life.
One thing in common they should share,
that, for everyone they care.
We depend on those above
to care, to share, to work, to love.
So, then learn from each mistake,
be brave, another footstep take.
Change is not your enemy, it is your friend, good company.
Good rulers, parents, children, all,
take fresh steps, however small.
Price and quality itself put good goods upon the shelf.
In every aspect let this be, above all, quality.
Good leaders care, a child may cry,
a mother live, a mother die.
We learn to live, we learn to learn,
wages are not all we earn.
Oh God I cannot say it all! Behold, the writing on the wall.
The blind may see, the blind may read,
the blind might learn, the blind might lead.
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye,
I want to laugh and love, not cry.
A less than perfect poet speaks,
I cry, I try, birds sing, have beaks.
